Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor), under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative Sesama Mara, has conducted various activities to enliven the month of Ramadan by extending assistance to those in need.
Among these activities were celebrating the orphans from Pusat Jagaan Rumah Kesayangan, Petaling Jaya by taking them shopping in preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Additionally, Air Selangor also took the opportunity to treat the children to an iftar feast to enjoy the atmosphere of celebrating Ramadan together.
Air Selangor also distributed bubur lambuk to orphanage homes, B40 families and the local community at Masjid Jamek Ar-Rahimah, Kuala Kubu Baru, Hulu Selangor, and Masjid Makmuriah, Sungai Besar, Sabak Bernam.
Under the Sesama Mara umbrella, Air Selangor distributed 100 Box of Hope, consisting of essentials food items, to the B40 families in Flat Seri Kenari, Kajang. To date, a total of 5,175 Box of Hope boxes has been distributed to B40 families around Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya since this programme was introduced on 30 June 2020.
The public can contribute to the Box of Hope in the form of physical purchases at five (5) Box of Hope locations within Village Grocer outlets. These locations are Tamarind Square Cyberjaya, MyTOWN Shopping Centre Cheras, 1 Mont Kiara, Central i-City Shah Alam and Melawati Mall Ampang. In addition, Air Selangor has also introduced the digital version of the Box of Hope initiative, allowing the public to make digital contributions through the website www.airselangor.com/boxofhope/.
Sesama Mara is a grassroot initiative aimed at assisting the surrounding community while strengthening Air Selangor’s relationships with various segments of society, such as the local community, residents’ associations, local authorities, and non-governmental organisations.
