Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) would like to update on the shutdown of four water treatment plants, namely Semenyih 2 Water WTP, Sg Langat WTP, Langat 2 WTP and Cheras Batu 11 WTP following the increasing water level and emergency electricity closure yesterday, 19 December 2021.

As of 7:00 am today, the latest update is as follows:

1. For the Semenyih 2 WTP, operations have commenced and clean water supply will be supplied to consumers. The water supply is expected to fully recover at 10:00 pm, December 20, 2021.
2. For the Sg Langat WTP, operations have fully commenced. The supply recovery process will be updated at a later time.
3. For the Langat 2 WTP, the raw water pumping process has commenced. The supply recovery process will be updated at a later time.
4. For the Cheras Batu 11 WTP, water treatment plant cleaning process following the flood incident is being implemented.

The expected full operations time for Cheras Batu 11 WTP is yet to be confirmed at this time. It is crucial for Air Selangor to ensure that all equipment at the water treatment plant is in good condition and can be operated without endangering the safety of Air Selangor’s onsite staff, especially those involving electricity.

Alternative assistance through water tankers will continue to be mobilised in stages to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises during the unscheduled water supply disruption. Air Selangor is seeking the consumers’ cooperation to practise social distancing and wear face masks while collecting the water supply from the water tankers.

Air Selangor will provide updates progressively from time to time through all mediums, especially the mass media.
