Kuala Lumpur – Following the shut down of the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, and Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) for 5 hours due to the pollution detected at the raw water source in Sungai Selangor this morning, Air Selangor discovered that the water supply distribution system is instable, with most of the water reservoirs in the residential area experiencing a sharp drop this morning.
As such, a total of 861 areas in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang / Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Langat region will experience low water pressure and unstable water supply. Consumers who are affected are expected to receive their water supply in stages starting at 3.00 pm today. The list of affected areas is as listed in Appendix A.
Air Selangor will provide relief water supply assistance by mobilising water tankers to the affected areas with priority to critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centers.
Air Selangor fully understands the consumers’ situation who are in need of clean water, especially during the increase in COVID-19 cases and the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order by taking all efforts to minimise the impact of disruption to affected consumers.
