Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor), Malaysia’s largest water services provider, continues to reinforce its commitment to the sustainability and resilience of the water supply at the Water Transformation Roadmap 2040 (AIR 2040) Launch Ceremony, organised by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur recently.
With the theme “Air Diperkasa, Rakyat Sejahtera”, the roadmap emphasised sustainability and resilience in the country’s water management. Its primary goal was to ensure that water operators achieve a balance between environmental preservation and financial stability.
Adam Saffian Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer of Air Selangor, who was invited as one of the panelists in the discussion, shared his insights on the importance of technology and innovation in achieving sustainable and efficient water management, in line with the objectives of AIR 2040, which aims to ensure the continuity of sustainable water resources.
In his remarks, Adam said, “Technology and innovation are key to ensuring sustainable and efficient water management. To guarantee the long-term sustainability of the water sector, a balance between environmental preservation and financial stability is crucial. Efforts to reduce non-revenue water (NRW) also play a significant role in improving operational efficiency, ensuring more water reaches consumers, and optimising available resources. We at Air Selangor are ready to actively contribute to the success of Malaysia’s water sector transformation goals,” he added.
The event was also attended by YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), who delivered his keynote address on the urgent need to transform the nation’s water sector to face future challenges, including climate change and growing demand.
The presence of industry leaders, academics, and other stakeholders further strengthened the forum’s discussions, particularly on collaboration between the water, energy, and food sectors, which is vital to ensuring the nation’s overall well-being and sustainability.
In its efforts to realise the vision of becoming a leading water service provider in Asia, Air Selangor continues its strong commitment to sustainability by providing clean and safe treated water to 9.62 million users in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.
