Cheras Batu 11 Water Treatment Plant (Cheras Batu 11 WTP), Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (Langat 2 WTP) Shutdown and Sg Langat Water Treatment Plant (Sg Langat WTP) Partial Shutdown Following Flood Incident

12:30 pm

Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) would like to inform of the shutdown of two water treatment plants and a partial operation for one water treatment plant following the rising river level leading to flooding. For Langat 2 WTP, a situation of water supply shortage has occurred due to an emergency electricity closure at the Semantan intake. At the Sg. Langat WTP, a high level of water turbidity is causing the WTP to only produce 40% of the daily production while Cheras Batu 11 WTP is shutdown due to flooding.

Following the shutdown of the water treatment plants, a total of 472 areas in three (3) regions, namely Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat are experiencing unscheduled water supply disruptions. Please refer to Appendix A for the list of affected areas. Consumers can also obtain the list of affected from http://hentitugas.airselangor.com/ and the Air Selangor application.

Expected full operations time for the Cheras Batu 11 Water Treatment Plant (Cheras Batu 11 WTP), Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (Langat 2 WTP), and Sg Langat Water Treatment Plant (Sg Langat WTP) is yet to be confirmed at this time.

Due to the complications arising as most of the main roads are closed due to the increasing flood situation, Air Selangor is unable to mobilise alternative water supply assistance through water tankers to consumers and critical premises in the affected areas during this unscheduled water supply disruptions.

Air Selangor will provide updates progressively from time to time through all mediums, especially the mass media. Consumers can also refer to all our official communication channels such as the Air Selangor application, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or call the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300.
