Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) would like to inform on the temporary shutdown of the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (Langat 2 WTP) at 4:30 am, 11 August 2022 following a chemical pollution incident at Sungai Semantan, Karak, Pahang caused by an accident on the KM75.9 Karak-Bentong Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Following the temporary unscheduled shutdown of the Langat 2 WTP, consumers in a total of 397 areas in three (3) Air Selangor regions, namely Petaling (3 areas), Kuala Lumpur (172 areas) and Hulu Langat (222 areas) are expected to experience unscheduled water supply disruptions starting from 10:00 am, 11 August 2022.
The Langat 2 WTP is expected to commence its operations at 3:30 pm, 11 August 2022 in order for raw water treatment process to be implemented. Treated water supply will be distributed in stages to the consumers once the water supply distribution system has been stabilised.
Please refer to Appendix A for the list of areas affected by the unscheduled water supply disruption.
Alternative assistance through water tankers will be mobilised to consumers, with priority given to critical premises. Air Selangor is making all efforts to minimise the impact of disruption on the affected consumers.
