Latest Update on the Water Supply Recovery Following the Temporary Shutdown of Rantau Panjang, Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2) and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) due to an Odour Pollution Incident at Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah

Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) would like to inform on the status update of the temporary shutdown of Rantau Panjang, Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) following an odour pollution incident at Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah.

 

All four WTPs have commenced operations and clean and safe treated water supply has been distributed in stages to consumers. As of 6:00 am today, the water supply recovery in the affected areas has reached 9.9%.

 

The percentage of water supply recovery in the affected areas is expected to reach approximately 40% at 8:00 am, 25 July 2024 (Thursday), followed by 90% at 8:00 pm, 25 July 2024 (Thursday). The full recovery time is expected to be at 8:00 am, 26 July 2024 (Friday). The list of areas affected by the scheduled water supply disruption is listed in Appendix A.

 

For your information, the duration of this water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location of the consumers’ premises and the water pressure at the distribution system.

 

Air Selangor has been mobilising water tankers to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funeral service centres. Alternative water supply assistance has also been provided at 17 local service centres listed in Appendix B.
