Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) would like to inform on the temporary shutdown of Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (Sg Semenyih WTP) and Bukit Tampoi Water Treatment Plant (Bukit Tampoi WTP) following the odour pollution incident at the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station intake.
Currently, the Sg Semenyih WTP and Bukit Tampoi WTP are still unable to operate. However, the TON reading has decreased to 0 TON for Sg Semenyih WTP, and 2 TON for Bukit Tampoi WTP as of 8:00 am, 25 December 2022 (Sunday). These plants can only resume operations after 0 TON reading has been recorded three times in a row. Air Selangor and Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) will continue to monitor the quality of the river water in the area of the pollution incident closely to allow the Sg Semenyih WTP and Bukit Tampoi WTP to begin operation as soon as possible.
Air Selangor continues to mobilise water tankers to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funerals during the unscheduled water supply disruption.
Air Selangor will provide updates progressively from time to time through all mediums, especially the mass media. Consumers can also refer to all our official communication channels such as the Air Selangor application, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or call the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300.
