STATUS UPDATE ON WATER SUPPLY RECOVERY AT THE KUALA LUMPUR AND PETALING REGION FOLLOWING THE BROKEN PIPE INCIDENT DUE TO LANDSLIDE IN DAMANSARA UTAMA

Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) would like to inform on the latest status of the unscheduled water disruption that is affecting the Petaling and Kuala Lumpur Regions following the broken pipes incident in Damansara Utama due to landslides. Water supply was distributed to consumers starting from 2:30 p.m. today after the pipe repair and slope strengthening works were completed. As of 6:00 p.m., a total of 17.5% or 11 areas have fully recover from a total of 63 affected areas in the Petaling and Kuala Lumpur Regions. Please refer to Appendix A for the list of areas that have fully recovered.

The percentage of areas that have fully recovered by region is as follows:

Consumers in the affected areas will receive water supply in stages based on the distance and location of the consumers’ premises.

Due to the delay in the distribution of water supply, the new water supply recovery period for the affected areas in Kuala Lumpur Region is at 9:00 a.m., 1 January 2021. Meanwhile, the water supply in the affected areas in Petaling Region will be fully restored at 10:00 p.m., 1 January 2021.

Air Selangor advises consumers who have received water supply to let water from the tap to flow until it is clear before daily use. Air Selangor hopes that the consumers who have received the water supply to use water prudently to ensure the recovery process in the affected areas runs smoothly as scheduled.
