Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) recently launched a ‘Water Conservation Hero’ campaign to heighten awareness about water conservation among the young generation, as well as among its 9.1 million consumers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. The campaign was set out to instil the importance of water as a valuable resource in everyday activities and how water conservation could help ensure a sustainable water supply for everyone.
The campaign started at Sri Bestari School, Bandar Sri Damansara, involving the participation of more than 400 students and teachers. To give early exposure and educate the school students aged 7-to-17-year-old on smart water consumption, Air Selangor installed on-site exhibitions and demonstrations to allow students to learn more about water conservation tips and practices in a fun and interactive ways. A competition will also be conducted to generate more creative ideas and active participation among students in water conservation efforts.
On top of that, student representatives will be trained as public speakers for Air Selangor to become ‘heroes’ in spreading information on water conservation tips through an Inter-School Awareness Programme. This programme will get the student representatives to talk to their peers from other schools to raise awareness on water conservation.
Through this 12-month campaign, Air Selangor will be joined by other schools such as Sekolah Kebangsaan Selayang Baru 2, Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi (SBPI) Gombak, Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 13, Shah Alam and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kinrara, Puchong.
