Kuala Lumpur – In its effort to ensure all residents of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya have access to safe and clean treated water, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) has completed a project to distribute treated water supply to 280 consumers in two Orang Asli villages in Bukit Lagong, Gombak and Bukit Kechil, Kuala Langat.
The project was initiated on 9 November 2020 and completed on 9 March 2021, with the objective to expand treated water supply coverage to the two Orang Asli villages which had only received water supply from natural sources previously. This is in line with Air Selangor’s aspiration in supporting one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by the United Nations, namely the Clean Water and Sanitation Goal (SDG 6).
Through this project, Air Selangor has successfully installed the piping system in these two areas to provide water supply from the nearest treated water supply source. This initiative is aimed to ensure residents of both villages have an alternative water supply during the dry season.
The project is also part of the ‘Extension of Supply – Towards 100% Supply Coverage’ Programme, which focuses on providing piping infrastructure to areas in need. This is Air Selangor’s ongoing commitment under its 30 Years Business Plan in ensuring clean, safe and sustainable water supply for all consumers.
Through this programme, several crucial areas have been identified and the installation of the piping systems and water meters will be implemented according to schedule.
